In case you didn't have a chance to be in Boston two weeks ago, here is Lessig's Change Congress talk at Harvard. Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN) joined Lessig at this address as well.

There are serious usability problems with the change congress website! In particular, if you want to encourage participation then the website's functionality should amplify the *appearance of activity* of people who are already contributing -- some blogs do this by displaying the most recent posts on the front page; Wikipedia did this (back when it was small) by putting in a prominent place the global list of all edits as they occurred.

You want this website to look bustling. It needs to make *self evident* the fact that people are busy at work and that anyone can take part. Right now it sacrifices that for the appearance of elegance -- which is really the appearance of stasis and top-down control.
