Tell Ben Nelson: TAKE ON THE SPECIAL INTERESTS!

Thumbnail

Allen R. Schreiber, 4th generation Lincoln resident:

“I’m a life-long Eisenhower Republican and 16-year Army officer who voted for Senator Ben Nelson. I had to shut down my small business and let go 5 employees after health insurers wouldn’t cover me and one hospital trip cost me $20,000.

Like many Nebraska families, mine needs President Obama’s health care ‘public option’ — which is opposed by the same health insurance companies that gave Ben Nelson $2 million. Please, take on these special interests and fight for us, Ben.“

Nelson raised more than $2 million from insurance and health care interests in his three campaigns for federal office, 83% from out-of-state.   – Public Campaign report

Nelson currently opposes Obama’s health care plan, which would force private health insurers to compete — driving health care costs down for families across Nebraska.

We see the same story over and over again — special-interest cash hurting our trust in elected leaders, even those we voted for.

Sen. Mike Johanns has also taken money from these insurance interests, and hasn’t announced his position on Obama’s plan yet. But if Ben Nelson doesn’t stand up to special interests, chances are Mike Johanns won’t either.

Tell Congress it’s time to fix our broken political system. Join the Change Congress “donor strike” for political reform today.

Special interests pump millions of dollars into elections, giving them more influence over our political system than the rest of us. Can you join thousands of other Americans in being part of the solution?
“I’m pledging not to donate to any federal candidate unless they support legislation making congressional elections citizen-funded, not special-interest funded.” (More …) CURRENT TALLY: Over $1.5 million withheld, and growing!
